Details

The Feminine Intelligence Agency (FIA) is dedicated to helping women develop the tools they need to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, particularly in the workplace. We have created a pattern language for workplace manipulation and conflict, which serves as a simulation designed to help women develop assertiveness and learn how to handle sophisticated stealth tactics used by manipulators in professional settings. The purpose of this project is to train our AI chatbot by researching and creating effective solutions to these real-world workplace challenges.

We are seeking student teams to research and develop research-based resolutions for the various toxic workplace scenarios in our simulation. By the end of the project, the goal is to refine the chatbot's ability to give users actionable strategies in real-time, so they can confidently navigate manipulation, power struggles, and subtle coercion tactics at work.

Deliverables

What the students will do:

  1. Play through the Toxic Workplace simulation using the pattern language developed by FIA. In this role-playing environment, students will experience and respond to workplace conflicts, manipulation, and other power dynamics.
  2. Conduct research on conflict resolution techniques and assertiveness strategies to address these manipulative behaviors, drawing from psychological theories and practical negotiation tactics.
  3. Develop actionable resolutions based on their research, translating them into specific, clear chatbot responses that users can apply in real-world situations.
  4. Collaborate on refining chatbot scenarios, ensuring that the AI can guide users effectively through difficult workplace dynamics, offering tailored solutions to real-time problems.
  5. Present their findings and recommendations, providing insights into how to improve the chatbot’s ability to coach women through sophisticated stealth tactics at work.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Practical resolutions for toxic workplace scenarios, based on research and best practices in conflict management and negotiation.
  • Refined chatbot interactions that provide real-time, research-backed guidance for women facing workplace manipulation or power struggles.
  • A comprehensive understanding of how AI can support women in building emotional resilience and assertiveness in professional environments.

Tasks Involved:

  1. Research workplace manipulation and assertiveness strategies, using academic literature and real-world insights.
  2. Participate in the Toxic Workplace simulation, practicing solutions to address manipulation, coercion, and power dynamics.
  3. Create chatbot scenarios and responses that can help users navigate toxic workplace environments with confidence.
  4. Deliver a 15-minute presentation with findings and recommendations for enhancing chatbot performance in handling real-world manipulation.
